Monet, a french impressionist painter. An art movement in which the artist expressed their own perception of nature. Monet emphasized and focused on the accurate colors of light and its changing qualities. He painted ordinary subject matter during different times of day capturing the colors of time.
This was something new and different for the 19th century. Typically still lifes and landscapes were painted indoors. Impressionists broke through and painted outdoors on the scene. Instead of detailed real life images, they painted visual effects.
During my second year of university, we did our own version of Monet. We picked a spot and photographed it during different times of day. Light is a huge factor in photography. Photography literally means "painting or writing with light."
